[This is a really silly dream.

It has to be a dream, or so Nepeta convinces herself. Her room in the castle, once lined with walls covered in ~~blood~~ paintings and drawings and charts of shipping, now resembles something of a jungle. She's sitting up on a bed of spotbeast fur that's oh so warm and also incredibly comfortable. Looking up reveals dangling vines and--are those featherbeast chirps she's hearing?

This is very much a dream. What only confirms this is the fact that she's not alone in the bed. Lying beside her is Vriska, sound asleep and oblivious to the sudden jungle they've found themselves in. She looks so peaceful, and almost--almost--innocent... Nepeta isn't sure she has the heart to wake her up. Even if this is just a dream. Which is odd, because she's never had a dream in which someone was asleep during it.

But it's a pretty boring dream without someone to interact with, so she shakes Vriska's shoulder to wake her from her slumber. Here's hoping that dream!Vriska is a lot nicer about being abruptly woken than the real Vriska.]

I'm just guessing! I don't even know what it expects from us at this point.

I don't know... what do you feel like doing?

[She looks down, hands running along the fur covers.]

I feel like hunting, but I doubt there are any actual beasts in here. I could see walls of the room now, so it's not all that big.

[She'll lean against the headboard. Head = bored.]

Tch, yeah I was going to say. All you could really hunt in here are some missing socks!

[And Nepeta flops onto the fur, now rubbing her cheek against it. So soft!]

What do humans do on this holiday again? Maybe if we do that, it will let us go?

[Regardless, she rolls over, looking to the other side of the room.]

We'll probably have to wish for the candy, because I don't see any.

[Nope, Nepeta. NOPE.]

[She pulls herself over the ledge of the bed, dangling upside down. Just as she thought: no candy under the bed, either.]

Just the same BS that the castle always does eventually.

[She's on her way down a dark path. Reckless cat girl; watch out!!]

Very funny, Friska.

[She's still dangling half off the bed, resigned to that position.]

[Have a nudge with a foot! A Vriska foot. Right there. On your back.]

[Nudge, nudge! Nepeta tries to return the gesture, her foot moving back and forth without actually making any contact. She pulls herself up and tries the same gesture with her arm, which has the same effect.]

I'm just done with the castle right now.

[YAWN.]

What happened this time?

[With a roll of her eyes, she pulls herself back onto the bed properly and sits up. No sense in being a wiggler about this. She's handled this before.]

Equius is gone. Again.

[Pffffbbbbt!]

So?

[At that, she shoots a sharp look at Vriska. But she has a point. This is the second time he's left the castle.]

So it still sucks.

[She'll yawn, folding her arms behind her head and relaxing.]

I got over that shit by now.

I thought I had. I did with everyone else.

[She crawls back to sit closer to Vriska.]

But then he showed up again and I let myself forget that it might not last.

[Looking away now...]

It happens.

Yeah, I know.

[She curls her fists on the bedding and sighs.]

It's just hard remembering how to deal with it again. For him especially.

[Oh fuck how does she even empathize here what is going on stop being sad in front of her.]

I get it. Moirails are kind of a big deal...

[Nepeta nods. In truth, she wasn't going to bring it up. It had happened days ago, and since then she'd done her best to push her feelings about it down and away. She'd had her cry, but she wasn't a wiggler anymore; it was time to make sure the tough stuff didn't keep her down. It was her own fault for forgetting how quickly it could all end, even if she herself didn't seem to be going anywhere.]

Yeah, but--it's okay. I mean, it's not, but it's not like being sad or mad will make him come back. I'll manage; I did before. You helped.
